Faith in our Future

FAITH IN OUR FUTURE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Building for today. Investing in our Future Disciples of Jesus Christ

Our Faith in Our Future Capital Campaign was created through the collaboration and thoughtful input of our Holy Family community, including town halls, listening sessions, and committee meetings. Because of the size and scope of our master plan, the work was designed to be completed in phases—allowing us to move forward responsibly while remaining good stewards of the generosity entrusted to us.

As Disciples of Jesus Christ, we also recognize our responsibility to those who will come after us—to ensure that future generations of disciples have a strong, vibrant, and welcoming parish and school community in which to grow in faith, learn, serve, and encounter Christ.

Thanks to the tremendous support and generosity of our parish and school families, we have already accomplished so much.

PHASE I — EDUCATION CENTER

Completed Summer 2024

Phase I focused on creating and improving spaces that support our students’ academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development.

The basement level of our Education Center was fully updated and remodeled, creating a brighter, more spacious, and functional environment for our students and programs.

Improvements included:

  • Dedicated Transitional Kindergarten and 8th Grade Classrooms — New dedicated learning spaces designed to better serve our youngest students and our graduating 8th graders.
  • Innovation Space — A flexible learning environment designed to support our science curriculum, STEM learning, robotics, programming, and hands-on exploration.
  • Our Lady of Peace Courtyard — An inviting courtyard designed to provide students with an area for prayer, gathering, studying, reflection, and community.

PHASE II — OUR CHURCH

Completed Fall 2025

Our beautiful Church has served generations of Holy Family parishioners. Phase II focused on safety, preservation, accessibility, and thoughtful improvements to ensure this sacred space continues to serve as our parish community’s spiritual home for generations to come.

Improvements included:

  • Seismic Retrofitting — Critical structural improvements were completed to bring the Church up to current safety standards and provide greater protection in the event of an earthquake.
  • Roof & Water Protection — The historic roof was secured, with improvements to the gutter and water-intrusion systems to help protect the building for years to come.
  • Original Confessionals — Our original confessionals were carefully renovated and updated to meet current safety and building requirements while preserving their historic character.
  • Air Conditioning — We installed new A/C units to improve comfort throughout the Church.
  • Sacristy Renovation — The sacristy was renovated to better support our clergy, liturgical ministries, and the preparation and care of sacred vessels. Improvements included installing a sacrarium (also known as a piscina), a special sink whose drain leads directly into the earth rather than the sewer system, allowing for the reverent disposal of sacred liquids and liturgical washings.
  • Restroom Renovations — Both the public and sacristy restrooms were completely renovated and updated.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our Holy Family community, all Phase I and Phase II construction completed to date is fully paid for—a tremendous blessing and testament to the faith and commitment of those who have supported this campaign.

PHASE III — EDUCATION CENTER

Planned for Summers 2027 & 2028

We now turn our attention back to the Education Center and the next chapter of Faith in Our Future.

Originally envisioned as one phase of construction, the remaining Education Center improvements will now be completed over two summers. This approach allows us to move forward responsibly, prioritize our most important needs, and ensure our plans remain aligned with available funding.

Rather than begin construction before adequate funding is in place, we made the strategic decision to pause construction this summer while continuing to refine the designs, project scope, and priorities.

Phase III is scheduled to begin in Summer 2027, with the remaining work planned for Summer 2028.

Planned improvements include:

  • School Entryway, Exterior & Site Improvements — Creating a more visible, welcoming, and clearly defined entrance to our Education Center while enhancing the surrounding exterior and campus areas.
  • Campus Safety & Security Enhancements — The safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, parishioners, and entire Holy Family community is paramount. Phase III will include additional security cameras and enhanced monitoring systems, along with protective fencing surrounding the school campus to provide an additional layer of safety and security.
  • Updated Library & New Multimedia Production Lab — Creating a vibrant, flexible learning space that fosters a love of reading while encouraging collaboration, creativity, innovation, and community. The new library will also include a Multimedia Production Lab, providing students with industry-standard tools and technology for video production and editing, audio recording, live broadcasting, and digital storytelling. Working in collaboration with our Innovation & Design Lab, the studio will provide a dedicated home for our current student broadcast news program, Knights! Camera! Action!, giving students hands-on opportunities to develop skills in broadcasting, journalism, communication, technology, and creative storytelling.

Together, these improvements reflect our commitment to creating a campus that is welcoming, inspiring, safe, secure, and equipped to prepare our students for the future.

WHY THE NEXT PHASE REQUIRES YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT

As we prepare for Phase III, we want to be transparent with our parish and school community about both our plans and our finances.

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is no longer offering bridge loans to parishes, which means we must have the necessary funds collected before beginning each construction project.

When we launched Faith in Our Future, our generous donors were invited to fulfill their pledges over five years. Contributions to Holy Family are deposited directly into an account held by the Archdiocese, and payments to approved vendors are made from that account. Each project also undergoes a thorough Archdiocesan approval and oversight process to ensure responsible stewardship of every contribution.

As we continue collecting campaign pledges through December 2028, we anticipate approximately $2 million in additional contributions. At the same time, as we have all experienced in our own lives, the costs of construction materials and labor have risen significantly since our original plans were developed.

This makes thoughtful planning—and the continued generosity of our community—more important than ever.

HELP US COMPLETE THE VISION

What we have accomplished together is remarkable, but our work is not yet finished.

Every gift to Faith in Our Future brings us closer to completing these final improvements and creating spaces that will serve our students, families, parishioners, and greater Holy Family community for generations.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has already pledged, donated, prayed for, and supported this campaign. Your generosity has made every completed improvement possible.

As we move toward Phase III, we invite you to continue walking with us. Whether you are fulfilling an existing pledge, making an additional contribution, or joining the campaign for the first time, every gift makes a difference.

Together, we are not simply improving buildings. We are caring for the legacy entrusted to us today while building a strong, safe, innovative, and faith-filled future for the generations who will follow.

Thank you for your continued faith, generosity, prayers, and commitment to investing in our future.
