Rachel Miller

8th Grade Math Teacher and GAINS Math Teacher

Ms. Rachel Miller is beginning her eighth year at Holy Family as the GAINS math teacher, as well as teaching Algebra I to the 8th grade. At Holy Family, she started as a middle school aide and has taught 6th-grade language arts, 7th-grade social studies, and 7th-grade Pre-Algebra, as well as developing the GAINS math program. She grew up in the Pasadena area before going to Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania to earn her A.B. in mathematics in 2018. Outside of Holy Family, Ms. Miller works as a private tutor for math, working with students in grades four through Calculus I. She also spends each summer working at Polytechnic summer school in math classrooms for students in grades two through high school and pre-Calculus.
Ms. Miller’s passion is for helping students explore how to explain their reasoning and develop the framework to answer the “why” in their responses. She enjoys watching the students grow and learn together. Outside the classroom, Ms. Miller enjoys reading, playing board games, and spending time with her family and dogs.
