Ms. Beatriz Rivas is excited to return for her third year at Holy Family School. As an alumna of St. Rita Catholic School and Alverno Heights Academy in Sierra Madre, she can attest to the value of a Catholic school education. Ms. Rivas received her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics with a Secondary Education Endorsement and Nebraska Teaching Certificate from Doane University in Crete, Nebraska. During her 4 years of college, she played on the women’s soccer team. Once she returned to California, she obtained her Single Subject Teaching Credential. With experience working with high school and middle school students, her passion is working with middle school students.
She believes all students are capable of taking on academic challenges using the tools they have, such as problem-solving skills, determination, confidence, and prior knowledge. Her teaching philosophy reflects the belief that students can learn best through collaboration and self-discovery. She creates a welcoming and respectful classroom environment where mistakes are encouraged, and every student can reach their fullest potential. She is excited to build positive relationships with both students and parents in order to have an amazing school year.
In her free time, Ms. Rivas loves spending time with her family, listening to country music, watching sports, exercising alongside her workout partner, who happens to be her sister, traveling, and trying new food places.
