Reading and Phonics
The Kindergarteners continue to do a great job in their reading and phonics groups. For the month of November, we will put sounds together to form words, read high frequency words, and listen to and make predictions about a story.
Math
The Kindergarteners have been doing really well learning about numbers and the calendar. They will also work on patterns, recognizing geometric shapes in the real world; identify squares, circles, rectangles, and triangles; identify attributes of plane shapes; indentify two equal parts, and use models to show equal parts of a whole.
Stone Soup
On Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., the Kindergarten class will share a “Stone Soup” Thanksgiving feast, based on a traditional story. They will share a feast of soup, drink and bread, prepared by themselves, with the gentle help of parents.
To help make the soup, please have your child bring in one fresh vegetable by Monday, November 24, 2008.
After the feast, we will attend a prayer service with the school in church at 11:00 a.m. Please come and join us.
This is during one of our many “Splendid Blended” days when both classes will be together from 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Entry and exit to and from class will be on the school yard side.
