My goal is for students to embrace Math and Learning. Students who show respect, take notes, show their work, and do their accelerated math and homework will be successful in my class. Communication is very important. I want to teach my students to advocate for themselves and to be comfortable communicating with authority. So I encourage them to email me themselves if they have questions or concerns.

### Accelerated Math in Middle School

Accelerated Math is an essential part of the Holy Family School math curriculum that provides deep math practice at the unique levels students need in order for them to grow—from foundational skills to grade-level standards. It’s the key to mastering math: Building incremental confidence. Once students feel confident, they open up to mathematical discourse in the classroom and productive struggle in their practice, to enrich their math experience.

Students will be expected to complete about 10 objectives per month and 30 objectives per trimester. Students will be graded 3 times during each trimester based on how many objectives they complete. Students must take practices (online) in order to get testable objectives. Once they have 5 testable objectives I will print them a test. If they “pass” those 5 objectives then, they will have 5 mastered objectives towards their goal. Beware: if you fail review problems, objectives may become un-mastered! If a student did not understand a concept or missed a lesson please try to troubleshoot. Visit www.my.hrw.com Students will receive a username and password to this site via email. There is a digital copy of your book and videos of a teacher explaining each lesson! If a student has trouble anytime, please watch a video, if they are still confused they can email me or come to 7:15 am tutoring.

### Tutoring

Study sessions will be held every Wednesday and Friday morning at 7:15am. The door will be open at 7:15 am sharp. Students who arrive late may not be allowed to attend. You are encouraged to attend the sessions when you need help, I will be here to answer questions.
